Unveiling the Magic Within: The Journey to Madame Turquo!se

Unveiling the Magic Within: The Journey to Madame Turquo!se

In the tapestry of life, there exists a realm where magic intertwines with purpose, intention, and pleasure. Allow me to take you on a voyage of self-discovery – how did I get here?  Follow my  journey that illuminates the depths of the soul and unveils the magic within.

The Cosmic Prelude

In the vibrant heart of the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, I emerged into the cosmic dance of stars and constellations, marking the inception of my narrative. Embracing the title of High Priestess of the Cs – Creativity, Conjure, Color, Culture, and Curves – I discovered my soul intricately woven into the tapestry of existence, entangled with the vibrant threads of life.

Ancestral Roots and Cultural Passion

Being of African descent, my path is firmly anchored in the wisdom and customs passed down by my ancestors and foremothers.  A fervor for the myriad cultures and traditions spanning the African diaspora forms the bedrock of my purposeful way of life. This sacred connection is the pulse into each of my pursuits, breathing life and meaning into every endeavor.

The Sacral Chakra Creative

In the professional realm, I identify as a Sacral Chakra Creative – a term that encapsulates the fusion of creativity and spirituality in my life. Graphic design, interior design, photography, and various creative mediums are the tools I wield to express the magic within. However, the profound connection between creativity and spirituality wasn’t immediately apparent in my early years as a professional creative. It was an epiphany that unfolded as a natural extension of my purpose.

What’s In My Mojo Bag?

The journey into self-discovery led me to assemble a mystical toolbox brimming with transformative modalities. Reiki, astrology, numerology, chakras, human design, chromatherapy, and ancient rituals became the keys to unlocking the doors to inner realms. With dedication and persistence, I emerged as a Tantric Shaman Practitioner, Reiki Master, Color Specialist, and embarked on the path to becoming a budding Aromatherapist. This sacred toolbox is not just an array of practices but a reflection of my commitment to guiding others on their journey to clarity, intention, purpose, and pleasure.

The Call of Spirit and 15 Years of Evolution

My entry into the spiritual and healing arts began as a child with daily horoscopes, an early connection that foreshadowed a deeper calling. In the 90s, I dipped my toe into the spiritual waters, but it wasn’t until the early 2000s that I answered the call of Spirit with intention. The turning point came with my first numerology reading, where the practitioner prophesied a path in this work for me. At that moment, I couldn’t fathom the significance, but now, over 15 years later, the Turquoise Sanctuary opens its doors to serve others on their unique journeys.

Navigating Realms Together

Join me on this enchanting odyssey, where the rich tapestry of heritage converges with the healing arts. Together, let’s navigate the realms of creativity, spirituality, and self-discovery. As we dance through the shared existence of our souls, we uncover the keys to a life illuminated with purpose and joy.

The magic within is not a distant spell but a living, breathing essence waiting to be unveiled. Are you ready to embark on this transformative journey of self-discovery with Madame Turquo!se? The invitation is extended, and the doors to the Turquoise Sanctuary are open for you.

30 Years Since High School…Wow!

30 Years Since High School…Wow!

This year marks a monumental milestone—the Suitland High School Class of 1993 is celebrating its 30th reunion! It feels surreal, doesn’t it? Thirty years since we walked those halls, laughed in those classrooms, and shared moments that shaped who we are today. Looking back, it’s clear that we truly were the BEST CLASS to EVER DO THE THANG. I am beyond honored to be a part of this legendary class, forever connected not only to our fellow classmates but also to the school and all the incredible classes that were part of that era.

Suitland High School gave us more than just an education—it gave us lifelong memories, friendships, and a community that still resonates with us all these years later. For me, and I’m sure many of you, the spirit of those times feels just as alive today as it did back then. There was a special energy in the air during our time at Suitland, a unique vibe that made our class stand out. We were bold, confident, and unapologetically ourselves. And of course, how could we forget the class color orange? It was vibrant, full of life, and a perfect representation of who we were—bright, passionate, and always making a statement.

And then there was our class song, “I’m A 93 Senior,” set to the unforgettable tune of Arrested Development’s “People Everyday.” Every time I hear that beat drop, I’m instantly transported back to senior year, where the excitement of being on the cusp of adulthood mixed with the bittersweet realization that we were leaving high school behind. That song was more than just a senior anthem; it was our collective heartbeat, a rhythm that carried us through that final year and beyond. It was the perfect soundtrack for a class that was as dynamic and diverse as we were.

As we approach this 30-year mark, it’s not just about reflecting on the past but also about celebrating the journey we’ve all been on since we left those high school days behind. Some of us have traveled far and wide, pursued different careers, started families, or found new passions. But no matter where life has taken us, the bond we share as members of the Suitland Class of 1993 remains unbreakable.

So here’s to Suitland Class of 1993, to our unforgettable memories, our bold color, our iconic class song, and to all the experiences that have brought us to this moment. Let’s celebrate 30 years of friendship, growth, and community. We were, are, and will always be the best to ever do it!

Spring Equinox

Spring Equinox

For this #SpringEquinox, I find myself deeply reflecting on the Orisha Aja, particularly in the context of healing. Aja, the Orisha of the forest and herbal medicine, embodies the essence of nature’s healing powers—she reminds us that the Earth holds the tools for our renewal and restoration. In the same way, the equinox marks a balance between light and darkness, symbolizing a period of introspection, rebirth, and growth. It’s the perfect time to pause, reflect, and recalibrate, aligning ourselves with nature’s rhythm.

The New Moon in Aries, a sign known for its Cardinal energy and action-oriented focus, adds another layer to this process. This celestial event urges us to reflect on key questions: Who are you now? This moment offers a powerful opportunity to reassess your identity and your journey. Aries’ focus on the Self is not selfish; it’s an invitation to understand your desires, needs, and aspirations from a place of authenticity. Where do you want to be? Aries helps you set clear intentions with its direct and determined energy, reminding you to aim high.

But before we can move forward, we must consider What must you heal or address to get there? This is where Aja’s energy is particularly potent. She reminds us that healing is not just physical but spiritual, mental, and emotional. Whether it’s past wounds, limiting beliefs, or lingering fears, the equinox provides the perfect balance of light and shadow for us to look inward, address what’s holding us back, and cultivate the healing needed to progress. This is the season of shedding the old and welcoming the new, not just externally but within ourselves.

Finally, How can you find pleasure in this moment? Even amidst the healing and transformation, Aries reminds us of the importance of joy and passion. Spring’s vibrant energy is a reminder to indulge in the pleasures of life—whether it’s the warmth of the sun on your skin, the smell of blooming flowers, or the satisfaction of creating something new. Pleasure, like healing, is an essential part of our journey.

As we move through this Spring Equinox, let us channel Aja’s wisdom and Aries’ drive to realign with our true selves. Take this time to reflect, heal, and ask the important questions. May this season be one of profound transformation, where you step into your power with clarity and purpose, embracing the pleasure and beauty of the journey.

Observing Silence

Observing Silence

Observing silence in community with others is a powerful practice, one that reveals insights about yourself, your energy, and the dynamics of the group around you. In a world where we often rely on words, facial expressions, and even the subtlest of gestures to communicate, being told not to communicate at all—especially with your eyes or face—can feel incredibly unnatural. But it is in this stillness that true observation and deep listening can emerge.

For melanated people, whose cultural expressions often thrive in the vibrant nuances of body language, eye contact, and facial expressions, this type of silence holds even greater meaning. We are often conditioned to convey so much through a look, a raised eyebrow, a smirk, or a tilt of the head. It’s how we connect, how we bond, how we affirm one another without speaking a single word. So when this avenue of communication is stripped away, it’s like a shift in our spiritual practice. It invites a deeper internal dialogue—one that transcends the surface-level exchanges we’ve mastered.

In spaces like a tantric shaman training retreat, the power of silence can be an invitation to feel into the energy of others without the need for visual or verbal validation. The practice calls you to tune into your own body’s rhythm, becoming more aware of your breath, heartbeat, and subtle sensations. You may even notice the energy fields of others, the way their presence shifts the air around you, or how your own inner state fluctuates in response.

This silent communication is not about shutting down; rather, it’s about expanding into a different realm of understanding. It invites the spirit to speak where words cannot. In such spaces, where the richness of Black Girl Tantra comes alive, the silence becomes sacred. It holds the potential for unspoken rituals of healing, of grounding, and of ancestral connection. In the stillness, the weight of our collective experiences—the joy, the pain, the resilience—can be felt and acknowledged in a way that transcends spoken language.

Silence, then, becomes more than just the absence of sound. It’s a profound act of listening to the unseen, the unsaid, and the ancestral wisdom that lingers in the gaps. Whether in a sacred space in Covington or in the quiet moments of our day-to-day lives, practicing silence in community allows us to deepen our connection not only with ourselves but with each other.
