Oshun Feast Day 2022

Oshun Feast Day 2022

There is always something powerful and transformative we can learn from #Oshun, the Orisha of love, beauty, fertility, and sweet waters. For me, she shows up in the most profound ways, constantly reminding me of the power of femininity and softness in a world that often asks us to be hard. Oshun teaches me to embrace my feminine energy, to let it flow and lead in all that I do—it is my birthright to walk in this power.

Oshun embodies the divine feminine in all her glory—she is the essence of grace, sensuality, and charm. She reminds me that my femininity is not something to hide or suppress; it is something to lead with. It is through this softness, this nurturing energy, that I find my strength. Whether in my personal life or professional endeavors, Oshun whispers to me to remain connected to this aspect of myself. She teaches that femininity isn’t weakness—it is the source of my power, my creativity, and my ability to manifest abundance in every area of life.

And in those moments where life throws challenges my way, and I feel the pull to react with hardness, bitterness, or anger, Oshun reminds me to stay sweet. Even when I have every reason to turn on the sour, to let the world’s negativity seep in, she guides me back to my natural state of joy, love, and compassion. She doesn’t ask me to deny my feelings or suppress my power, but rather to channel it in ways that uplift and heal, rather than destroy.

One of the most special symbols Oshun and I share is the peacock—a bird that symbolizes beauty, pride, and magnificence. Just like the peacock, Oshun encourages me to stand tall, to spread my feathers, and to let my brilliance be seen. The peacock’s iridescent feathers remind me that there is beauty in being bold, in owning your uniqueness, and in living unapologetically in your truth. Oshun’s presence in my life teaches me that, like the peacock, I am meant to shine, to embrace my colors, and to walk with confidence in all that I do.

Today, on #OshunFeastDay, I give thanks for her sweet abundance. Her blessings are infinite, always flowing like the river she rules. She pours out love, prosperity, and wisdom, reminding me that I, too, am worthy of receiving all that is good in life. Her teachings go beyond the material—they touch the spiritual, showing me that the greatest riches come from within. In every act of love, in every expression of beauty, in every moment of joy, Oshun’s spirit is alive.

To all who walk with Oshun, may you continue to feel her sweetness, her grace, and her power in your life. And may we all remember that leading with our femininity is a divine gift—a birthright passed down from the Orisha herself.

Thank you, Oshun, for your sweet abundance, for the love you pour into me, and for the lessons that guide me on this journey.

Yemaya Feast Day 2022

Yemaya Feast Day 2022

Today is #YemayaFeastDay, and my heart is filled with gratitude and love for this powerful and nurturing Yoruba deity. From the moment I was introduced to Yemaya, I felt an unshakeable connection to her energy. While I haven’t undergone any official rituals that would formally align me with her, in my spirit, we are like spiritual besties. There’s a deep understanding between us, a bond that transcends titles or labels. She’s been my entry point into the world of African Traditional Religions (ATR) and African Diasporic Religions (ADR), and for that, she will always hold a special place in my spiritual journey.

Yemaya, or Yemoja, as she’s known in different traditions, is the mother of the oceans, the protector of women, and a fierce yet gentle force of nature. As I’ve continued to grow in my spiritual practice, I’ve noticed so much of myself in her. Her strength, her ability to nurture and protect, her deep emotional wisdom—these are all qualities I recognize within myself and continue to cultivate. Yemaya’s energy is vast, like the ocean she rules, and I see pieces of her in others around me as well. Whether it’s in the women who lead with love, the mothers who fiercely protect their children, or the people who stand as pillars in their communities, Yemaya’s spirit shows up in so many ways.

My journey through ATR and ADR has been nothing short of transformative. I’m learning more about myself, my ancestors, and the powerful energies that guide me. Every lesson, every ritual, every moment of reflection feels like another layer of understanding is being added to my soul. But no matter how far I travel on this path, Yemaya will always be my first love. She was the one who opened the door for me, who invited me to explore the depths of spiritual wisdom and healing.

Today, I honor Yeye with all my heart. I offer her the respect and love she so richly deserves. Yemaya’s energy is both calming and empowering, reminding me that I can be soft like the ocean waves and strong like the tides that shape the shorelines. Her teachings have guided me through so many emotional waters, and I am forever grateful for her presence in my life.

So, on this sacred day, I lift up my voice in celebration of Yemaya. Whether she is called Yemoja, Iemanja, or Mami Wata, her energy remains consistent—a force of divine femininity, protection, and abundance. To everyone who walks with Yemaya, may you continue to feel her love and guidance as you navigate your own spiritual waters.

Happy Feast Day, Yeye! May your waters always flow, bringing healing, wisdom, and protection to all who seek your embrace.

On Beginning Solar Rotation 47…

On Beginning Solar Rotation 47…

Today marks the beginning of my 47th rotation around the Sun, and I feel an overwhelming sense of peace. As I reflect on all that I’ve accomplished during Year 46, I am filled with gratitude. It was a year of growth, challenges, lessons, and triumphs, but most importantly, it was a year that brought me closer to my true self. And now, as I step into Year 47, there is so much more that I want to achieve—so many dreams and desires that are ready to take flight.

Already, the outpouring of birthday love has begun, and I can’t express enough how much it means to me. Each message, each greeting, each well wish touches my heart and reminds me how blessed I am to have such an incredible community of support around me. Birthdays are always special, but this year feels different—there’s a deeper sense of purpose, a new theme that is calling me to embrace myself fully.

What does that look like for Year 47? Well, it’s a journey of self-acceptance, self-love, and stepping into every aspect of who I am with full confidence. There are so many questions swirling around as I move into this new chapter. Will my business take the form it’s destined to? I’ve been planting seeds, nurturing my vision, and working tirelessly, and now I’m ready to see it flourish in ways I’ve always imagined. The Creative Visioneer is evolving, and I know it’s on the brink of something extraordinary.

Will I take my creativity to the next level? That’s a big one. My creative energy has always been my compass, guiding me through every endeavor, and Year 47 feels like the time to push those boundaries even further. Whether it’s through The Glamtog, my photography, design work, or the many projects I have in the pipeline, I’m ready to expand. There’s a fire within me that’s burning brighter, and I know that my creativity will lead me to new heights.

And of course, there are the personal questions. Is my future beau around the corner? Will this be the year I find that partnership that aligns with my soul, someone who complements my journey? The mystery of love is always present, and while I’m content within myself, I do wonder what the universe has in store in this aspect of my life.

One of my biggest dreams is to bring my creative studio space to life—a sacred place where all of my talents can converge, where I can create, heal, and inspire others. I can feel it getting closer, the vision becoming more tangible with each passing day. How close am I? Only time will tell, but I know that everything I’m working toward is aligning in divine timing.

As I begin this new rotation, this is just the start. I hope you’ll continue to join me on this journey, to witness the unfolding of new chapters and new adventures. I’m ready to share more of my light, more of my magic, and more of the lessons I learn along the way. Year 47 is all about stepping into my power as a high priestess, embodying my truth, and embracing all the beauty that life has to offer.

Black Business Month 2022

Black Business Month 2022

August is Black Business Month, and as a proud Black business owner, this time of year holds special significance for me. I take my role in this community seriously, and I’m intentional about where and how I spend my Black dollars. Supporting Black businesses isn’t just a one-time act or something I do for show—it’s woven into my everyday life. My dollars circulate within my community, and that’s something I’m deeply committed to. It’s an act of love, of solidarity, and of empowerment.

Too often, we hear narratives that unfairly disparage Black businesses as a whole, and it’s disheartening. But for every person who speaks negatively, there are countless stories of resilience, creativity, and excellence that make up the Black entrepreneurial spirit. I am so incredibly proud to be a part of this legacy—to stand as a Black business owner who is contributing to something bigger than myself. And beyond that, I’m just as proud to be a deliberate and consistent patron of other Black-owned businesses. We’re creating something powerful, something sustainable, and something that uplifts our communities. Every dollar I spend within the Black business ecosystem is a vote for the future we want to see.

For me, being Black isn’t just a facet of my identity that’s skin deep. It’s not just about where I grew up, my vernacular, or my ethnicity. Being Black is something I engage in actively, daily. It’s how I move through the world, how I interact with my community, and how I express my purpose. I breathe it, I defend it, and I pay homage to it. Blackness is not just something that happens to me—it’s something I embrace with pride and intention. I honor the sacrifices and victories of those who came before me, and I do my part to ensure that we continue to thrive.

To every single person who has had the courage, the vision, and the determination to run a Black business: I salute you. We know it’s not always easy, and the challenges are often greater than those faced by our counterparts. But we do it anyway, because we believe in the power of our people, our products, and our services. We believe in the spirit of UMOJA, unity, because we know that when we come together, we are unstoppable. We practice UJIMA, collective work and responsibility, because we understand that our success is tied to the success of our community. We embody UJAMAA, cooperative economics, because we know that wealth within our community builds freedom. And we live by UBUNTU, because we are connected by a shared humanity. “I am because we are.”

So, as we continue to celebrate Black Business Month, let’s remember that every Black dollar is a seed being planted for future generations. Whether you’re a Black business owner, a supporter, or an advocate, your role is vital in this ecosystem. Together, we are building legacies, one purchase at a time.
